With a field of 11 fillies and mares signed on for the Dance Smartly July 2, the race figures to be an excellent wagering event. 5/2 morning line favorite Strut the Course is a recognizable name after winning last year’s Dance Smartly and following that effort with a victory in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes. The Barbara Minshall trainee appears to be rounding back into form while making her third start this year. Strut the Course finished third last out in the Grade 2 Nassau Stakes May 29 at Woodbine. Former Canadian Horse of the Year, Lexie Lou (4/1) was in over her head while finishing tenth in the Grade 1 Just a Game Stakes June 11 at Belmont, but figures to give a more honest account of herself against this field. The Mark Casse trainee won the Grade 2 Nassau Stakes last out and is always a force at Woodbine.
