First time out, she beat the boys going one mile on turf in the Grade II Summer Stakes at Woodbine. Second time out, she beat some of North America’s best juvenile fillies in the Grade I Darley Alcibiades going 1 1/16 miles on the polytrack at Keeneland. Those results to launch her racing career have now put the Mark Casse-trained My Conquestadory at the very top of the list as Canada’s best hope for a Breeders’ Cup title when the World Championships are run November 1-2 at Santa Anita Park.

Wins going away on the Woodbine turf

Although bred in Kentucky, a daughter of 2005 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Artie Schiller, out of the stakes-placed mare Golden Artemis, Woodbine has been her home track. Brought along slowly, she made her racing debut on the EP Taylor Turf in the Summer Stakes in mid September and immediately showed signs of big things to come. Third choice at the betting windows at 5-1, she broke well under jockey Eurico Da Silva, stalked the pace close up through a 1:10.89 six furlongs, went 3-4 wide around the turn, and opened up on the field from the top of the stretch.

Overcomes all kinds of trouble at Keeneland

That win gave her fees paid entry to the BC Juvenile Turf event, but she wasn’t done yet. Whereas the Summer win was fairly ordinary, the Alcibiades was anything but. Squeezed at the start, and then with no room to run , she was sitting in tenth place with a quarter mile to go. Angled out by Da Silva, she swept by the field through the final turn, accelerated into the stretch and pulled away. In doing so she became only the second horse this year to win two ‘Win and You’re In’ events for the BC, and will likely race in the Juvenile Fillies Turf.
